New Photos from Mongolia! - Art Wolfe

Mongolia Picture Journey – July 2022

This trip had originally been planned for July 2020, then COVID happened. I am eternally grateful that individuals hung on to their reservations for two a long time and we were equipped to have an incredible excursion!

Our concentration was cultural, even though we did have a really number of wildlife sightings like a critically endangered saiga antelope that galloped earlier us in a flash.

We were being able to keep with and photograph the iconic Kazakh eagle hunters and even crashed a marriage. Near Khovd we went to a standard pageant known as a nadaam, with dusty, spirited horse races, and beefy wrestlers who manufactured limited do the job of soldiers who ended up attending. Last but not least, as section of the team break up off to photograph the endangered takhi (Przewalski’s horse) I was able to satisfy with shamans. In the Soviet era, Shamanism (and Buddhism) ended up repressed, but the historic cultural traditions are generating a resurgence.

The extensive steppe and arid mountains of Mongolia are wonderful. It is awe-inspiring to witness a rainstorm sweeping throughout the land and passing clouds dapple the hillsides. It is truly one of the final sites wherever one can experience so little but invigorated by mother nature.
