An afternoon with trumpeter Brandon Woody

Excerpt: Throughout an extreme, initially-of-the-12 months cold entrance in mid-November, Brandon Woody is soaking up every single ounce of warmth in his Southwest Baltimore living home. He’s in a white T-shirt, sweats and black Crocs lounging with his homie, musician Briley Harris, and Woody’s canine, Marley, but confesses that he should be expending this idle time operating at his craft.
You might or could not have viewed Woody close to city on pageant levels, on a Calvin Klein billboard shot by SHAN Wallace or entertaining a wine glass-gripping crowd at the Eubie Blake’s courtyard. That is for the reason that in excess of the past few of several years, the 24-calendar year-aged trumpeter has created some major strides in his job.
In February, he was booked to present the audio for a Nike sneaker launch in New York City’s SoHo district. In September he and his band, UPENDO, had a weeklong residency at the College of Maryland, Higher education Park’s doing arts middle, The Clarice, for their Viewing Artist Series. And, possibly most shiny of all, he was solid as a musician in the forthcoming Apple Tv set Baltimore-dependent series, ”Lady in the Lake.”
