With all the political posturing throughout the current rail employees fiasco, I was reminded of a superb arts motion began by a good guy of the arts, who I had the enjoyment to know properly. I’m talking about the inimitable E. Ray Scott, founder of the Michigan Council for the Arts, appointed by Gov. William Milliken, throughout his republican administration. This was again when aid for the arts was a bipartisan enterprise.

E. Ray Scott fought for the arts, whether or not he had massive budgets or modest, when the legislature no more time valued the arts.
