Like most Texas landscape painters, I have accomplished extra than my share of bluebonnet paintings, so although the prime of a “Painted Church” was from a plein air performed just one Spring afternoon in close proximity to Schulenburg, the base half of a field of bluebonnets was just a massive fib. I will not apologize, on the other hand, as I stand by “Artist Perogative”. Which is nothing in contrast to these churches! A tour of the “Painted Church buildings” is a have to see any time of year but specially during Bluebonnet time. They are located in the communities of Dubina, Superior Hill, Praha, and Ammannsville which dot the Centeral Texas Hill State. Modeled following the ancient gothic cathedrals of Europe, they ended up designed and adorned by Czech, German and Austrian immigrants in the course of the 18th and early 19th century. Though the exteriors are charming, nothing at all can get ready you for the elaborate interiors. Swooping cherubs, intricate designs of bouquets, faux marble pillars and trompe l’oeil make for a fantasy entire world of sheer delight! So if I advised a small visible fib, these lousy immigrant artisans painted a Whopper! This will make them some of the most awe-inspiring illustrations of the prosperous cultures imigrants carry to our fair state and a deal with for any art or background enthusiast. Place it on your list of entertaining matters to do someday this calendar year!
